Thermal Waters
With historical references dating back to Roman times, it was only at the beginning of the 18th century that the first thermal establishment in Gerês was built.
As a result of the publication, by Doctor Ricardo Jorge, of several books about the efficacy of the waters of Gerês in the cure of hepato-biliary, digestive, and circulatory system diseases, as well as metabolic and endocrine problems, the exceptional properties of these waters were widely disseminated.
The current thermal establishment, recently renovated, is equipped with the most modern thermal techniques.
Nowadays, Termas do Gerês is one of the main and most important and most visited Portuguese spa thanks to the significant investments made in the thermal establishment and to the constant concern in its improvement, betting on the continued leadership of the sector in Portugal.
