HOW TO REACH GERÊS

IN THEIR OWN VEHICLE:

Coming from the A3 (freeway), head towards Braga Sul (Celeirós) and then take the Braga ring road on the east side.

From Braga, there are three options to reach Gerês:

  •   Exit towards Chaves (EN 103) at km 68,5 and then follow the EN 304;
  • Leave in a northernly direction on the EN 101 until Cávado River (km 83,5), following Amares on the EN 205;
  • Leave in a northernly direction, taking the EN 101 to Cávado River (83,5 km), then following the EN 205 to km 47,7 and then towards Terras de Bouro on the EN 205-3.

Coming from Spain, you can enter through the Portela do Homem border, down the EN 308-1 already inside the Peneda-Gerês National Park in the direction of Vila do Gerês, central point of this tourist destination belonging to the municipality of Terras de Bouro.

IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT

If you want to use public transport, you can travel by train or bus to Braga. Then, from Braga to Gerês you can travel by bus.

The Get Bus company offers a bus service from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport and Oporto city centre (Bus station – Campo 24 de Agosto) towards Braga.

From Braga (Bus Station – Avenida General Norton de Matos), there are buses from the ‘’Empresa Hoteleira do Gerês’’ company heading towards the Vila do Gerês, going through Rio Caldo and from ‘’Transdev’’ company towards Campo do Gerês, going through Terras de Bouro and Covide.
